Arnold R. Turpin

Arnold R. Turpin, 94, of Greensboro, IN, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. He was born April 22, 1922 in Somerset, KY to the late Alonzo and Nancy Pearl (Sutherland) Turpin.

A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Arnold co-owned and operated J J & T Trucking Company, where he retired after 38 years of service in the trucking industry. He also was employed by Turpin Electric for 20 years, carried mail, worked at Everett Kings Sawmill, was operations manager for Cresco Lines, Indiana division, and terminal manager for McClain Dray Lines in Richmond and Connersville, Indiana. Arnold attended Greensboro Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the Knightstown American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva Coleen (Lee) Turpin, whom he married in 1952; five sons, Joseph A. (Beth) Turpin, of Greenfield; Jon B. (Linda) Turpin of Cambridge City; George Scott (Beth) Turpin of Seymour; Stephen (Liz) Turpin of Etowah, NC; James (Laura) Turpin of Greensboro; two daughters, Debra (Pat) Fausset of Shirley and Lee Annette (Danny) Douglas of New Castle; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Ford of Indianapolis and Opal Lindley of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Turpin and Cameron Paul Turpin; grandson, Andrew Robert Turpin; brothers-in-law, James Ford, Darrell House, Bill Lindley, Carl Stonerock, and Donnie Wallace; sister-in-law, Doris Wallace.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett and Pastor Danny Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
