Barbara Ann Barker, 84, of rural New Castle, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness. She was born January 27, 1930 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Adeline (Charles) Groce.
Barbara enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning vegetables. She also loved flower gardening. A member of Westview Church of the Nazarene for over 62 years, she had recently attended First Apostolic Church in New Castle with her family.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters: Susan Carender of New Castle and Shirley (David) Smalley of New Castle and Madison; eight grandsons: Daniel G. Carender Jr., Michael W. (Christy) Carender, Bruce L. (Laura) Carender, and Robert P. Carender, all of New Castle, D.
