Barbara Lee Davis

Barbara Lee (Groce) Davis, 65, of New Castle went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born October 26, 1948 in Lewisville, Indiana to the late John Taylor Sr. and Jocia (Thompson) Groce.

Barbara attended Union High School. She worked as a hair stylist for many years, later retiring from Chrysler Corporation in 2003. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, reading and has spent many summers at her houseboat on Dale Hollow Lake. She was a former member of Pleasant Valley Christian Church and a member of Memorial Wesleyan Church formerly Ninth Street Wesleyan Church.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, James Davis of New Castle, son, Jeff (wife: Charity) Riddell of Muncie, daughter, Becky (husband: Scott) Babb of Russiaville, IN, step daughter, Cindy (husband: Steve) Upchurch of Noblesville, nine grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by several brothers and sisters, Pearl (Bob) Mills of New Castle, Roy (Helen) Groce of New Castle, Della (Ted) Mawk of Mooreland, John T. Jr. (Carol) Groce of New Castle, Fred (Carolyn) Groce of Kennard, Larry (Debra) Groce of Texas, Marilyn (Danny) Boatman of New Castle, Linda Carter of New Castle, and Danny Groce of New Castle.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Ronnie Groce.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Memorial Wesleyan Church with Pastors Brian Riggs and Lenville Gross officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Memorial Wesleyan Church, 2701 N Memorial Dr, New Castle, IN 47362.
