Barbara Ann Thurston

Barbara Ann Thurston, 71, of New Castle went to be with Jesus on Monday, September 21, 2015 following an extended illness. She was born June 21, 1944 in Clinton County, KY, a daughter of the late Harry and Dora (Ragan) Sykes.
A 1963 graduate of Monticello High School in Monticello, KY, Barbara enjoyed being a homemaker, and was an avid reader. She was a member of the philanthropic organization, Psi Iota Xi, and also volunteered at the elementary school while her children were there. She especially enjoyed date nights with her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Glen Thurston of New Castle, whom she married September 14, 1963; two children, Tim Thurston (Karen Shelley) of New Castle, and Tina (Mark) Molter of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Brittany, Veda, Carly Jo, Jasmin, Conner and Gavin; several cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Denny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 1015 at the funeral home.
