Bernard Baranski, age 85 of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at his residence. He was born January 29, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Bennie and Elsie (Wrzesinski) Baranski.
He graduated from DeLaSalle High School in Chicago, and the Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He and his family moved to New Castle in 1964 where he worked for Force Control (part of New Castle Products) then he worked for Schweitzer in Indianapolis from 1972 retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church. Bernard was an avid bridge player and enjoyed photography and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Elinor (Budny) Baranski of New Castle; children, Christopher (Barbara) Baranski of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Baranski of Lafayette, IN and Andrea (Larry) Hopkins of Westfield, IN; grandchildren, Emma Ellen Hopkins and Anna Elizabeth Hopkins; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Seth Samuel and McKenna Thomas Hopkins; brother, Robert Baranski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church in New Castle with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle.
