Betty Louise (Renfro) Applegate, 87, of Spiceland, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at her home. She was born March 17, 1927 in Knightstown, IN, a daughter of the late Silas and Alice P. (Nolen) Renfro.
A 1945 graduate of Knightstown High School, Betty enjoyed vacationing, sewing, quilting, embroidery work, and spending time with her family. When her daughters were grown, she went to work at Draper, Inc. in Spiceland and retired after 18 years of service. Betty was a member of Spiceland Friends Meeting for over 60 years.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Kay (Applegate) Lee of Albany, IN and Marilyn (Applegate) Ingle of Spiceland; four grandchildren, Angela (Randy) Speer, Tracy (Michael) Woolard, Gregory Lee and Jeffrey (Jessica) Lee; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 66 years, Philip “Ted” Applegate in December, 2013; siblings, George Renfro, Bertha Stearns, Minnie Clapp, Geneva “Joe” Dean, Lola Conrad, and Franklin Renfro.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Spiceland Friends Meeting with David Brock and Cathy Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Circle Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
