Billie Jean Holcomb, 87, of New Castle, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at Henry Community Health. She was born January 27, 1930 in New Castle, Indiana to the late William Jackson and Viola Estella (Porter) Sparks.
She worked as an assistant to Dr. Arthur Burnett. Billie Jean received the National Merit Scholar and attended Ball State University. She attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church and had taught Sunday school. She enjoyed reading, cooking and camping.
Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Kay (husband Gary S. Collier, MD) Collier; granddaughter, Cynthia (Jay) Richards; great grandchildren, Macy, Max , Ashley and Wyatt Richards, Suzanne (Jon) Sewak, Jeremy (Jenny) Collier, Maxton Collier, and Mary (Cory) Kuntz.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Holcomb.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Dennis Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
