Billy "Bill" L. Garris Sr.

Billy “Bill” L. Garris Sr., 74, of Knightstown passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born June 29, 1943 in Flemingsburg, KY to the late Robert L. and Lena (Rigdon) Garris.
He was a member of the Local 933 since 1961 and was still active with the Union. Bill retired after 32 years of service with Allison Gas Turbine in Indianapolis. He was a deacon at the Smyrna Baptist Church where he had been a member since 2000.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sondra (Porter) Garris of Knightstown; son, Billy “Bill” L. Garris Jr. of Kennard; grandchildren, Brock Garris of South Bend, Bo Garris of Elkhart, Brett (Gretl) Garris of Goshen and Brenna Garris of Mishawaka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Garris in 2000 and Lena Garris in 2015.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverends Larry Delon and Charlie Sheppard officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 -8 p.m. Thursday, October 19 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Local 933 Union Hall, 2320 S.
