Bobbie Eugene “Gene” Reddick, 89, of Carthage passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Morristown Manor. He was born December 10, 1925 in Carthage the son of Russell and Margaret (VanDuyn) Reddick.
Gene retired from Delco Remy in Anderson following 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving two tours during WWII, stationed in Germany, France, and Swiss Alps. He grew up attending the East St. Christian Church in Carthage and was a member of the American Legion. Gene’s hobby, after work, was repairing lawnmowers and small engines. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma Reddick of Carthage; daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Zimmerman of Bedford; granddaughters, Amanda (Frank) Miller of Indianapolis, Emily (Andy) Fortner of Orleans, great grandson, Jaxon Miller; great granddaughter Annily Fortner; great nephew, Kevin (Lesa) Gabbard of Spencer; great niece, Krista Gabbard; great-great nephews, Corey, Justin, Zackary, Brody; great, great, great niece, Isabella Gabbard; also many nieces and nephews on Mrs. Reddick’s side.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Maxine Riggs; niece, Dixie Gabbard.
Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Reverend David Bonne officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Knightstown American Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the U.S. Army. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Friday.
