Bruce G. Edwards

Bruce G. Edwards, age 65, of Cambridge City, Indiana passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Reid Hospital. He was born February 2, 1949 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Ralph James and Julia (Gann) Edwards.

Bruce lived his entire life at the same residence, where he was a lifelong farmer, who loved the land and had a strong passion for farming. He was a school bus driver for South Henry School Corporation for over 30 years and currently drove school bus #12. He was a member of the Lewisville Masonic Lodge #72 and attended New Lisbon Christian Church. He enjoyed playing Poker and Euchre with his buddies, farm shows, NASCAR, and the Indianapolis Colts. Bruce loved being around people especially family, friends and grandchildren. He was a former 4-H leader and supporter of the 4-H program for many years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Nona J. (Pope) Edwards of Cambridge City; sons, Jason (Leslie) Edwards of Straughn and James Ryan “Odie” Edwards of Summitville, IN; grandchildren, Neriah Shae Edwards, Addy Brooke Edwards, Halle Elizabeth Wilson, and Karleigh Nicole Wilson all of Straughn, and Ella Mae Edwards of Summitville; mother-in-law, Marylee Pope of New Castle; brother, Doug (Linda) Edwards of New Castle; sister, Cindy (Mark) Cunningham of Straughn; brother-in-law, Jeff (Terri) Pope of New Castle; nieces and nephews, Rhiannon Pope, Michael (Angie) James, Julie (Brian) Myers, Amanda James, Brenda (Brian) Paugh and Jamie (Todd) Judy; Bruce had many, many special friends; loving canine companion “Skip”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Walter Byron Pope; grandfather, Hobert Wesley Edwards.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Mark Lomison officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the funeral home with Masonic Rites conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County 4-H Association, 1201 Race St., Suite 303, New Castle, IN 47362 and to Tri High FFA, 6972 South State Road 103, Straughn, IN 47387.
