Carol Ann Ogborne, 75, of Franklin, (formerly of New Castle) passed away Friday morning, July 7, 2017 in her home following an extended illness. She was born July 27, 1941 in New Castle, the daughter of Fred L. and Jeanette (Holtzel) Fadely.
A 1959 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School, she graduated from Ball State University in 1970 with a Master’s degree in Journalism Education. She taught in the Hamilton Southeastern School System from 1970-1980. She was then employed with the Department of Family and Children from1983-2003, where she was a Certified Social Worker with the state of Indiana.
Carol was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Castle, where she was also active in the Lydia Circle of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star #116, and the Ransford IMH #605. A resident of the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin for the past 11 years, Carol served as President of the Resident Council, often contributed to The Resident newspaper there, and was a member of the choir, chime choir, and also the Supreme Council of the Amaranth, Inc.
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Gwendolyn Ogborne-Pew of Odon, Jocelyn (Gene) Ogborne-Sewell of New Castle; a son, Timothy E. (Nikka) Ogborne of New Castle; three grandchildren, Christopher Pew of Richmond, Tristan Sewell of Indianapolis, and Trenton Sewell of New Castle; two great grandchildren, Kamryn and Kolbi Pew, both of Richmond. Also, a niece and a nephew, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen L. Fadely.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle, where an Order of Eastern Star service will take place at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Charles Stanley officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery, West Lawn Addition.
