Charles Robert Beavers, age 92, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. He was born June 19, 1921 in Henry County, Indiana to the late Lowell and Madge (Lawhorn) Beavers.
A 1939 graduate of Mooreland High School, Charles was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during World War II. He was proud to have served his country as a Sergeant of the 442nd Bomb Squadron in the 320th Bomb Group. He spent over 40 years as a Manufacturer’s Representative for Leathercraft, Quaker, and Temple Furniture Companies, retiring in 2004. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Nancy Beavers of New Castle; two children, Randy (Kaye) Beavers of Bloomington and Kay (Mark) Christensen of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Casey Beavers, Brett Beavers and Blair Beavers all of Bloomington, Matt Beavers and Eric Beavers both of Carmel and Josh Christensen of Indianapolis; one sister, Mary Lou Wiatt of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rick Beavers in 2000; a sister, Sara Smith in 2010.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
