Charles E. Driver, 72, of White Hall, Maryland and formerly of New Castle passed away May 5, 2017 following a brief bout with cancer. He was born April 14, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Fred L. and Anna (Smith) Driver.
Charles was a 1963 graduate of Chrysler High School then attended Ball State University and National-Lewis University.
Mr. Driver was a 20 year retired member of the U.S. Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Division in Viet Nam, where he served during 1967-68. Later assignments included shipboard duty, clinical supervision assignments, staff instructor duty as The Naval School of Health Sciences and other varied postings.
Following his Naval Career, he worked in the Mortgage/Financial arena until he retired once again.
Charles leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy, of White Hall, MD; son, Charles (wife, Andrea) Driver of Westfield, Indiana; daughter, Stephennie Moe of White Hall, MD; grandchildren, Cheryl, Cassie, Dylan and Brianna; and a great grandson, Cody.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Timothy; and a sister, Sandra Fannin.
Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion, VFW and Active Duty Contingents from the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
