Chase H. Buffington, 88, of Muncie passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born August 1, 1929 in Muncie to the late Mark and Stella (Stradling) Buffington.
He was a 1947 graduate of Royerton High School (Delta) and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Chase attended Shiloh Bible Institute for 3 years and was an ordained minister through Bethesda Missionary Temple in Detroit, MI and was the pastor of Evangel Temple of Muncie for 30 years. At the same time he was employed by Borg Warner and retired following 32 years of service he was also a bank courier for 19 years at Mutual Bank of Muncie. Chase enjoyed fishing especially with his grandchildren. Chase was a “handy man” and enjoyed helping people with household and mechanical problems.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary (Laird) Buffington of Muncie; children, Toni Buffington (Kendall) Mosburg of Indianapolis; Julie Buffington (John) Wegner of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren, Jessica Wegner, Jacob (Blair) Wegner and Jennifer Wegner (Fiancé: AJ Connell) all of Ft. Wayne and Ashlynn Mosburg of Indianapolis; sister, Ruth Stanley of Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Buffington and a sister, Beverly Cheek.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at First Assembly of God in New Castle with Pastor Steve Gallaway officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton, IN with military rites conducted by the American Legion and U.S. Army. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. -1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
