Dale R. McQueen

Dale R. McQueen, 58, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 at IU Ball Hospital following a brief illness. He was born April 2, 1959 in New Castle, to Bert and Betty (Gadd) McQueen.

Dale graduated from Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School in 1977, and attended Indiana State University from 1977-1981. He worked in telecommunications for 15 years, spending 10 of those years in Arkansas. In 1996, he moved to New Castle to operate the family business, Convenient Cleaners, which he owned and operated up until the present.

Dale loved restoring mechanical antiques, fishing at Calico Rock, Arkansas, was a passionate Indianapolis 500 race fan, enjoyed working with the public, was extremely patriotic, and always liked making a long story longer.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Jo McQueen of Hagerstown, daughter, Caitlyn (Ryan) Castillero of Cedar Lake, IN; son, Jacob McQueen of Tucson, AZ; grandson, Daniel McQueen of Tucson, AZ; his mother, Betty McQueen of New Castle; his sister, Doris (Peter) Gallagher of Trout Lake, WA; step-daughter, Heather Ferrell (fiancé, Jason Downs) of Greenfield; step grandson, Chase Ferrell of Greenfield; in laws, Murl and Kay Brumley of New Castle; brother-in-law, Bob (Amy) Brumley of New Castle; sister-in-law, Jeannie (Oscar) Kline of New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bert McQueen in 2002, his maternal grandparents, William and Emma Gadd; and paternal grandparents, Les and Gertrude McQueen.

Dale’s family would like to extol heart-felt thanks to Henry County Emergency Services, IU Ball Memorial Hospital, IU Ball Hospice, and to all the loyal customers of Convenient Cleaners for your concern and exemplary care.

At Dale’s request, there will be no public visitation or services. Condolences may be delivered or mailed to: Convenient Cleaners, 403 S. Main St., New Castle, IN 47362.
