Dudley G. Carender

Dudley G. Carender, 86, of New Castle, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born March 13, 1928 in Pulaski County, Kentucky to the late Walter C. and Pearl (Hall) Carender.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dudley served during World War II and also during the Korean War, serving a total of 13 years. He was stationed at the White House for a time, and served mostly as a medical technician and military police during both wars. After a short time on the New Castle Police Department, he was employed by Ralph Reed and Sons Construction in Anderson for many years, where he served as shop foreman. Afterward, he worked as a diesel mechanic several places including Coca Cola, Dennis Equipment, Weiss Equipment, and also worked at Ace Hardware in New Castle. All the while, Dudley farmed in Springport, Richmond, and New Castle. Farming and restoring tractors was his favorite thing to do.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Susan Carender of New Castle; two sons by his first wife, Timmy (Ruby) Lewis of Spiceland and Danny (Marcia) Carender of New Castle; sons, Daniel Carender, Michael (Christy) Carender, Bruce (Laura) Carender, Robert P. Carender and Adam Carender all of New Castle; grandchildren, Levi Carender of New Castle, Abigail Carender of Terre Haute and Josh Carender of New Castle; three brothers, Tusco (Minnie) Carender of Richmond, James Emerson (Eileen) Carender of San Manuel, AZ and Joseph (Penny) Carender of FL; sisters, Arimetria King of New Castle and Margaret Coomer of Somerset, KY; several nieces and nephews; a close friend, Jim Montgomery of Franklin, IN.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Carender; sisters Rose Couch and Ida Peacock; brothers, Melvin and Robert F. Carender.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor John D. Beck, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Hicksite Cemetery near Greensboro, Indiana. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the funeral home.
