Edith Pauline Pitts, 93, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, September 27, 2014, at her home. She was born September 19, 1921, in New Castle, a daughter of the late Ira and Sarah Elizabeth (Rust) Johnson.
She enjoyed celebrating her 93rd birthday with her family a week before she passed away.
She attended New Castle schools and was a lifelong homemaker. She enjoyed watching the Indiianapolis Colts and gospel music programs on television, cooking and caring for her flowers.
Survivors include a son, Eldon (wife: Luana) Pitts of Mooreland; two grandchildren, Bryan (wife: Holly) Pitts of Independence, Kentucky, and Valerie (husband: Mike) Boggs of Mooreland; and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Boggs; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Pitts, and a sister, Ethel Tungate.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Steve Dugger officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
