Ellen Snow Hancock, age 66, of Shirley, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at Community Hospital in Anderson. She was born February 12, 1949 in Albany, Kentucky to the late James Otha and Sadie Adele (Mooreland) York.
Ellen attended church at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and Greensboro Church of the Nazarene. She had worked as a QMA at Millers Merry Manor in Middletown and Rawlings House in Pendleton. She liked flowers, quilting, and gardening, she enjoyed being a grandmother more than anything. Ellen had a feisty spirit and had survived cancer twice.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Donald Ray Hancock of Shirley; children, Scottie Ray Hancock of Shirley and Shana Janes of Highland, IN; grandchild, Beau Janes of Highland, IN; siblings, Priscilla (Rodney) Leadbetter of Somerset, KY, Martha (Darryl) York of Mt. Washington, KY, James (Vickie) York of Glendale, KY, Susie (Mike) Larkin of Atlanta, GA, Debbie (Chuck) Dickerson of St. Petersburg, FL, Michael York of Upton, KY, Diane (Greg) Miller of Sonora, KY and Tony York of Glendale, KY; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Mae York.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Gene Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Hedricksburg Cemetery in Shirley.
