Eulane “Jackie” Slettvet, age 88, of New Castle, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at her residence. She was born March 25, 1926 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to the late Fred and Edith (Garvin) Roberts.
She retired from Standard Grocery Store after 20 years of service, she had also worked at the Family Dollar. When she first came to New Castle, she worked at Denton’s Drug Store and the A&P. Jackie was a member and baptized at the 14th Street Church of God and had also attended the Grand Ave Baptist Church. She loved to travel, the beach, corvettes, outdoors, flowers and gardening. Most of all, she loved the Lord. Jackie cherished her family and spent many hours with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Susie (Stephen) Harmon of Pendleton; son, Robert (Janet) Duvall of New Castle; grandchildren, Jason Harmon of Pendleton, Amy (Scott) Smith of New Castle, Bobby Duvall (companion, Sandy) of Kokomo, and Jamie Harmon of Pendleton; step grandchildren, Gordon Guffey of New Castle and Susan Harmon-Sanders of Anderson; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a dear sister, Louise Mathews; brother, Gary Roberts; nephew, Ricky Roberts.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Charles Dugger and Tony Piper officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the funeral home.
