Everett Goolsby, age 86, of Blountsville, passed Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born December 16, 1927 in White County, Tennessee to the late Jonothon Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (McBride) Goolsby.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Occupation of Japan. He retired from Avesta Corporation (formerly Ingersoll Steel) in 1993. He had done cement and construction work for many years. Everett was affiliated with the Blountsville Church of Christ. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Charles Everett (Susie) Goolsby of Shelbyville, Pamela Kay (Randy) Hall of Greensboro, Sarah Ann (Dennis) Dillon of St. Paul, IN and Tina Marie Goolsby -Leisure of New Castle; ten grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Christine (Clouse) Goolsby; four brothers; two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor James McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in Blountsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
