Flonnie M. Guffey, 87, of New Castle passed away Thursday morning, September 25, 2014 at Hickory Creek following an extended illness. She was born January 11, 1927 in Monticello, Kentucky, a daughter of the late John Roe and Carrie Florence (Jones) Marcum.
She had been employed at Brooks Foods and in the laundry department at Henry County Memorial Hospital. Before becoming house bound, she attended the Church of Christ on State Road 103. Flonnie loved watching westerns on the television, cooking, gardening and caring for her flowers.
Survivors include two sons, Richard A. (wife: Joyce) Guffey of Yuma, Arizona and Dudley (wife: Beverly) Guffey of New Castle; six grandchildren, James (wife: Amy) Clark of Monticello, Kentucky, Richard A. “Richie” (wife: Carla) Guffey of Springport, Joe (wife: Amanda) Guffey of New Castle; Chris (wife: Dana) Guffey of Avon, Indiana, Bryan Guffey and Jennifer Guffey, both of New Castle; nine great grandchildren; three step grandsons; several step great grandchildren; four sisters, Iva Simpson of Windfall, Indiana, Golda DeRossett of Albany, Kentucky, Barbara Ward of Tipton, Indiana and Betty F. Marcum of Monticello, Kentucky; one brother, Donald Marcum of Windfall, Indiana; sisters-in-law: Mary Akins and Barbara (husband: Herman) Riggs, both of New Castle; brothers-in-law: Odell (wife: Pat) Guffey of Marion, Indiana and Ezra (wife: Jenny) Smith of New Castle and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cornel “Dick” Guffey; a son, Jimmy “Jim” Ray Clark; two brothers, Robert and Everett Marcum.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
