Floyd F. Piercy

March 14, 1936 — July 18, 2015

Floyd F. Piercy, 79, of New Castle entered eternal life on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in rural Glasgow, Kentucky son of the late William Russell and Ruby Rhea (Groce) Piercy but had been a resident of New Castle most of his life.

Floyd graduated from New Castle High School in 1955. He was a member of Memorial Wesleyan Church, originally the 9th St. Wesleyan. In February of 1958 Floyd gave his life to Christ and has been faithful for the last 56 years of serving his Lord. He served in many areas including Sunday School teacher, song leader, youth group leader, Best Years Fellowship Director, trustee and board member. He counted it a privilege to serve his Master in any capacity like hanging rafters at the Free Methodist Church during an ice storm. Floyd was also known to be a “prayer warrior”.

Floyd worked at Perfect Circle, later known as Dana Corporation, where he retired following 32 years of service. He then was asked to work temporarily at the Henry County Hospital in the maintenance department where he helped in remodeling and retired following 10 years of service. Floyd had also owned his own construction company for over 20 years.

Floyd was involved in 4-H for many years. He was an avid supporter of the NRA. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trap shooting, raising cattle and farming. He helped with the construction of the F.U.N. playground. Some of his most precious memories were times spent with his grandchildren. He and Betty took them on many fishing vacations to state parks and from there many memories were made and funny stories are still being told. As a family man, Floyd also wanted all family gatherings at his home, where many meals and holidays were shared and many more memories made.

Floyd will be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Left to cherish his loving memory is his wife, Betty, to whom he was married for 60 years; his 3 children and 7 grandchildren; daughter, Deborah (David) Allen and son James; daughter, Linda Kaye (Morgan) Buckley and daughters, Allison (Joe) Morton and Courtney (Wayne) Simons; son, David (Cindy) Piercy and children, Kendall (Zack) Powell, Megan (Patrick) Horselooking, Sonja and Isaac Piercy; great grandchildren, Cooper and Gage Horselooking, Hunter Morton, William Land and Jett Simons (due Oct. 2015), all of New Castle.
