Francis "Mike" Vannatta Jr.

Francis “Mike” Vannatta Jr, 81, of New Castle passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 5, 1935 in New Castle to the late Francis Sr. and Anna Katherine (Wallace) Vannatta.

Mike was a 1953 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler Memorial High School. He was a flooring specialist contractor for many years and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, competitive shooting, wood working and was a collector of many things.

He is survived by his three children, Terrie (Michele) Vannatta of Muncie, Bob (Autumn) Vannatta of Lewisville, Karen Hall of New Castle; grandchildren, Brandon Vannatta of Tennessee, Abby Vannatta (Dylan Raines), Amy Vannatta both of Lewisville, Bobbie (Eric) Lawson, Courtney Hall, Molly Hall (Jason Caudill) all of New Castle; great grandchildren, Bella, Brandon Jr., Christopher, Chloe, Macaylah, Jace, Blake, Collin, and Kora; a sister, Susie Vannatta Hovermale of Missouri; a brother, Jerry (Kathy) Vannatta of Springport; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Virginia (Corbin) Vannatta; 2nd wife, Ruth (Byrd) Vannatta; and a sister, Shirley Bittner.

Per Mike’s request, graveside services will be privately held at the convenience of the family at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.
