Freda J. Howe

Freda J. Howe, 86, a resident of New Castle passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 at her home. She was born March 24, 1929 in New Castle to the late Edward and Mable (Padgett) Marshall.

Freda was formerly employed at Firestone Corp. in New Castle and was a member of the New Castle VFW. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work, especially for others. An avid BINGO player and Indianapolis Colts fan, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters: Betty Blackburn, Phyllis (Ron) Coatie, Julie (Mike) Allen and Brenda Grider, all of New Castle; a son Ron (Michele) Howe of New Castle; an “adopted” daughter: Crystal Lawson of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren: Brad (Melissa) Blackburn, Brent Coatie, Michael Paul (Kelly) Allen, Amanda (Matt) Ryan, Justin Howe (companion: Randall), Alex Howe and Brittany Grider; seven great grandchildren: Quinnton and Spencer Coatie, Kate and Luke Allen, Delaney Ryan, Kinley Burgess and Eric Blackburn; a brother: Edward “Sonny” Marshall of Mississippi; a cousin: Georgia Hoopingarner of Pendleton; several nieces, nephews and special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles W. Howe in 1996; daughter and son-in-law: Pamela (David) Wright.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Forest Ridge Cancer Center.
