Gloria N. Abston, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Health Center. She was born August 2, 1931 in Halfway, Kentucky to the late Owen M. and Veva (Heffingtion) Boucher.
She was a former member of Eastside United Brethren in Christ Church and had attended Greensboro Church of the Nazarene. Gloria was a life member of Henry County Humane Society where she was a past board member and volunteered for many years with a passion for animals. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and her husband had sung at many revivals at various churches in the area. Gloria also enjoyed directing Easter plays for various churches.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Abston; daughter, Sherry L. Abston of New Castle; sisters, Ann E. (Darrell) Turner of Lafayette, Susan Wilson of Glasgow, KY and Jan Ford of Lafayette; two grandchildren; Joe Briner and Amy (Michael) Smith; three great grandchildren, Dominic, Victoria and Alec Smith.
Private services will be held at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Gene Bennett and Thomas Current officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
