Harold L. Catey

Harold L. Catey, 77, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 9, 1937 in New Castle the son of Ernest and Mary Louise (Snider) Catey-Hedrick.
Harold was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School. He went on to American School of Drafting and worked for New Castle Products for 15 years as a draftsman. He later worked at DeRose Mobile Homes as a kitchen designer and Pease Corporation for 5 years as a draftsman. He also sold insurance. Harold then started farming and bailed hay with his family and drove a school bus for New Castle Community School Corporation for 27 years before retiring in 2007. He especially loved driving for the New Castle athletic teams and was a part of the 2006 boys Basketball State Championship event.
Harold loved fishing and currently held the Indiana state record for catching the largest blue gill weighing 3 lbs. 4 oz. He was a Golden member of the Eagles #933 and member of the Elks #484. He loved watching his granddaughters play softball. Harold was loved by many and loved many, especially his wife Louise. They loved spending time together and traveling to Canada for many summers.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years on December 21st, Louise (Draper) Catey of New Castle; daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Buchanan of Selma; granddaughters, Katelyn and Hannah Buchanan; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Catey; and a brother Lloyd Catey.
Services will be at 2:30 PM Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home where the Elks #484 will be conducting a memorial service at 7:45 PM.
