Hollis "Hoss" A. Griffey

Hollis “Hoss” A. Griffey II, 54, of Mt. Summit, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014 in I.U. Health Ball Hospital. He was born September 5, 1960 in Muncie, a son of Hollis A. and Marcia (Wallen) Griffey.

“Hoss” loved watching and assisting his niece with JBR racing, as well as watching the sporting events in which his nephews played. Affectionately known as “Dr. Gadgett”, he enjoyed video production, audio/video editing, and successfully operated Poor Cat Productions and HG Productions. Over the years, he recorded weddings, sporting events, and worked in other photography aspects. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed I.U., Colts, Pacers and NASCAR events. “Hoss” loved the Lord, enjoyed Christian music, and built his own mobile recording studio out of an old mail delivery van. He also had a great love for animals, especially his dogs and cats. He cherished spending time with his family, was always very giving, and willing to help others in need.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Marcia Griffey of Mt. Summit; siblings, Melanie (Tom) Bean of Farmland, Gail (Mickey) Griffey of New Castle, Erin Griffey Paret (Chris) of Nashville, TN; step sister, Melissa Harker-Ross of Muncie; niece and nephews, Jessica Bean, Kyle Bean, and Ethan and Connor Griffey; step mother, Louise Griffey of Muncie, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Hollis A. Griffey; half brother, Joshua Griffey; maternal grandparents, Arnold P. and Maxine Wallen; paternal grandparents, Hollis M. and Margaret Griffey; two aunts, an uncle, and his beloved dog, “Bud”.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Bill Bruneau officiating. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Monday prior to services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hollis “Hoss” A.
