Inez G. Veach, 93, a resident of Noblesville and formerly of New Castle passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. She was born May 2, 1922 in Fentress County, Tennessee to the late James Harrison and Etta Jane (Buck) Guffey.
A member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, she had worked at Perfect Circle in Hagerstown from 1941 to 1947. Inez had also been employed with Ball Brothers Insurance Agency in Muncie and had worked as a school secretary for New Castle Community School Corp. for 10 years. She was a member of AARP. She loved reading and gardening.
Survivors include a daughter: Linda Ann Illyes of Noblesville; a son: Stephen B. (Ginger) Veach of Muncie; four grandchildren: Heidi (David) Hartman, Abby (Kris) Nielsen, Tim (Kim) Illyes and Allison Veach; great-grandchildren: Henry and Rose Lyskava and Madeline and Emily Nielsen, Drew Illyes, Alex, Samantha, Dakota and Roger (Brandy) Hartman; a sister: Maxine Judy of Westfield; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Wilbur Van Veach on November 29, 1982; son-in-law: Andy Illyes; a sister: Edna Cox; two brothers: Ben “Scott” Guffey and John Guffey; two sisters-in-law: Virginia Veach Guffey and Mary Conwell Guffey.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Mark Herbkersman officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Castle First Aid Unit or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
