Jack E. Garner, 81, of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Henry County Hospital. He was born January 11, 1934 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Ray and Neda Garner of Knightstown.
In his younger days, he worked at Giant Department Store, Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home, and the State Highway Department with his longtime friend, Clarence Hasty. In 1966, he started his career with Chrysler Corporation UAW # 371, and retired October 31, 1996 with 30 years of service.
On September 12, 1959 Jack married his wife Patricia Ann Wallace of Tateville, Kentucky. They united their marriage 55 years ago in Jellico, Tennessee.
Jack enjoyed roller skating, working in the garden, and reading Steven King novels.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Patricia of 55 years; son, Jack R. Garner and his wife Judy of Port St. Lucie, FL; granddaughter, Jarrah Garner of Port St. Lucie, FL.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by a brother, Charles Garner; and a sister, Charlene Baur.
The Garner family would like to thank the following friends that helped during Jack’s illness: Clarence and Lena Hasty, Jeff and Janet Davis, Paul and Joyce Conyers, and Marcie Carender. We also want to thank Henry County EMS for the service they have provided for the past two years.
Services will be at 1:00 pm. Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition.
