James P. "Big Jim" Glaser, 69, a resident of Parker City and formerly of Mooreland went to be with his eternal family Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his home. He was born July 27, 1945 in Muncie to the late Clarence and Hope (Edwards) Glaser. He married the love of his life, Joyce A. Golliher on July 27, 1967. After 44 years together, she preceded him death on December 5, 2011.
A 1963 graduate of Mooreland High School, he was a bricklayer for over 30 years and apprentice bricklayer instructor for Local 4 IN/KY for 10 years. Jim had also farmed for 10 years and was a lifetime member of St. Lawrence Church in Muncie where he served as an usher for 25 years. He was involved with 4H for 25 years and also enjoyed gardening. A great story teller, Jim had a keen sense of humor and enjoyed joking with the nurses caring for him. He was very close to his grandchildren who not only considered him a Grandpa, but also a best friend. He loved attending his grandchildren’s ballgames and was a huge Notre Dame football fan.
Jim is survived by two sons: Bradley J. Glaser (special friend: Stacy Breese) of Williamsburg and Ryan (wife: Lori) Glaser of Mooreland; two daughters: Lori (husband, Greg) Jester of Mooreland and Lisa (husband, Kenny) Bickford of Parker City; fiancé of his late son Craig: Angie Favorite of Hagerstown; grandchildren: Evan, Nick and Becca Glaser, Taylor, Mariah, Allison and Elijah Jester, Kyle and Kenadee Bickford, Layne Huntington, Ryland, Ysabella, Lukas, and Raylee Glaser, Jaylon and Braydon Favorite; great granddaughter: Quinne Glaser; two sisters: Betty Matchett of Muncie and Judy (Dick) Biehl of Middletown; one brother: Bob (Janet) Glaser of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
Inn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Joyce A. Glaser; a son, Craig Glaser; two grandchildren, Kyndal Glaser and Kaleb Hoover; one sister: Nancy Glaser; and one brother: Fred Glaser.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday October 23, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Muncie with Father Dennis Goff officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call 4 – 8 pm Wednesday, October 22 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. The family requests that Notre Dame attire be worn to the visitation.
