James R. Jordan, 84, of Carthage, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at his residence.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Shirley a son of Glen A. and Letha (Hedrick) Jordan.
A 1952 graduate of Wilkinson High School, James served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1953-1956. He retired from Standard Life Insurance Company in 1998 after 18 years of service. He was a member of the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church. James enjoyed reading, his church family, attending musicals and casinos.
He is survived by a son, Randall (Cecilia) Jordan of Saratoga Springs, NY; two daughters, Brigitta (Keith) Remley of Poland, OH and Kristen Jordan of Indianapolis; four granddaughters, Victoria, Jessika, Abigail and Lilly; a brother, Glen Jordan, Jr. of Wilkinson; a sister, Sue Ray of Carthage; and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to: Kenneth “Bud” Ray, Vanessa Peavie, Letha Abrell, Patty Jett and Penny Jones.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Kathy Porter and Patricia Ray; brothers, Max, Arthur, William, Charles and Robert Jordan.
Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Pastors Paul Lawson and Ben Dilworth officiating. Military rites will be provided by contingents of the US Army, American Legion and VFW. Burial will follow in McCray Cemetery, Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
