James "K" Felkins

October 27, 1921 — November 16, 2015

James “K” Felkins, age 94, of Bronston, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. He was born October 27, 1921 in Albany, Kentucky to the late Olney A. and Byrde (Koger) Felkins.

A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, he served in the South Pacific, and the Guadal Canal, and Bougainville. He farmed for many years in the New Lisbon area. He also owned and operated an excavating business for several years. He moved to Kentucky in 2000. An avid horseman, he enjoyed training, riding and showing registered quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a past member of the Henry County Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife, Trula (Wilson) Felkins of Bronston, Kentucky; three daughters, Jane K. Moyer of Noblesville, Christina Sheets of Indianapolis and Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” (Ted) Compton of Dunlap, IL; grandchildren, Patrick (Emily) Moyer of Noblesville, Dr. Tara Sheets (Wei Zheng) of Houston, TX, Zachary Mitchell of Dunlap, IL, Robbie Compton of Waukegan, IL and Corissa Compton of Peoria, IL; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Lily, and Emma Moyer, and Liam Zheng; a very close cousin, Wanda Beatty Caldwell Bulgar of Maretta, GA; three step daughters, Beverly (Kenneth) Ellis of Gas City, IN, Judy Kissick (Ron Killian) of Shirley and Jeanette Brumfiel of Bronston, KY; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-12 noon Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the NEW LISBON CHRISTIAN CHURCH with Reverend Mark Lomison officiating. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the American Legion and the VFW. Memorial contributions may be given to the Rolling
