Jean Hyden Sheffield, age 86, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at her home in Draper, Utah. Formerly of New Castle, Jean was the wife of Emery Sheffield who survives her. She was born August 5, 1928, in Farmers, Kentucky the daughter of the late Melva Lancaster and Allen Hyden.
Jean and her husband moved to Florida in 2010 then two years ago to Utah. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene prior to her move to Florida. She was a homemaker, seamstress, gardener and was active in her church until her health failed.
Survivors also include a daughter, Jeri Gooding of Draper, Utah; a son, Emery Sheffield, Jr. (Brent Clevenger) of Columbus, IN; granddaughter, Susan (Jason) Levin of Sandy, Utah; great grandchildren, Maya Jeanne, Riley Elizabeth and Sean Emery Levin; Jean was also a loving step grandmother to Tisha (Tom) Sledd, Toby (JoAnna) Rush of Roeland, Kansas, Kimberly (Andrew) Votava of Oro Valley, AZ and Kristy Gooding of Hendersonville, NC; step great grandchildren, Josiah and Joel Sledd, A.J. and Anna Votava and Ethan, Hunter, Jasmine and Isaiah Rush; a brother, Dan (Anna) Hyden of Clearwater, FL; sisters-in-law, Janet (John) Hay, Myra (Harold) Hacker and Virginia Sheffield; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ginger Norman and Barbara Jones; son-in-law, Jerry Gooding; in-laws, Willie Mae and Gene Dale Sheffield and James Paul and Ermal Sheffield.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastors Mark Waltz and John Hay, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery.
