Jerry Leon Chesher 76, of New Castle passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017. He was born May 30, 1940 in Centerville, IN to the late John and Carrie (Gentry) Chesher.
Jerry retired from General Motors after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Whittier Lane Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed flea markets, camping, hiking; he loved his kids and grandkids very much and loved to spend time with family and friends. One of his favorite pass times was to hang out at the junkyard and talk with friends.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy (Key) Chesher of New Castle; children, Jerry (Tonya) Chesher of New Castle, Jeff (Krista) Hasty of New Castle; Stacy (Charlie) Darling of Spiceland; grandchildren, Kerrie Dunn, Ashley Chesher, Chris Chesher, Katasha Dellinger, Blaine Darling; six great-grand children; siblings, Velma Wood, Jane McCaslin, Patty West, Bob Chesher, and Don Chesher; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Ralph, and David Chesher; sisters, Mildred White and Joan Reno; brother-in-law Butch Key; and friends, Gene Bottoms and Gene Bertram.
Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memory Gardens.
