John W. "Woody" Wood

July 31, 1941 — August 8, 2018

John W. “Woody” Wood, 77, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his residence. He was born July 31, 1941 in New Castle to the late Earl and Grace (Lennox) Wood.

Woody was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1959-1965 and retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1995 following 33 years of service. He was a 43 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He joined the New Castle Masonic Lodge #91 in April of 1975 and transferred to Greensboro Lodge #175 in 1978, where he served as Master Mason and was still currently a member. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marcella Wood of New Castle; children, Kimberly Schoeff of Fishers and Randy (Robin) Buck of Springport; grandchildren, Kasey and Lyndsey Schoeff, Adam and Tiffany Buck and Autumn Fang; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Wood in 1986, Gerald Buck in 2001; and a brother, Charles Wood.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at South Mound Cemetery, Section 6. Military honors will be provided by contingents from the U.S. Army, VFW 1282 and American Legion 137. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Greensboro Masonic Lodge, c/o David Bright, 103 New Jersey St., Shirley, IN 47384.
