Kenneth Charles "Chuck" Pew

October 2, 1960 — April 6, 2017

Kenneth Charles “Chuck” Pew, 56, of Spiceland, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Glen Oaks Health Campus. He was born October 2, 1960 in New Castle, the son of Orin Kenneth and Charlotte (Hudson) Pew.

Chuck was a 1979 graduate of Tri High School. He was a Petty Officer 1st Class in the US Coast Guard from 1979-1993 and was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves until 1995. Chuck retired from the State Highway Department. Chuck loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his parents; a son, Christopher Pew of Richmond; two granddaughters, Kamryn and Kolbi Pew of Richmond; former wife of 33 years, Gwen Pew of Odon, Indiana; two sisters, Kathy Grimwood (Derald) of Eugene, OR and Kristi Pew of Spiceland; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Albina Hackman Newton, Orin and Henrietta Pew; Charles and Ona Hudson; a cousin, Todd Pew and a niece, Sarah Yunker.

Chuck was a supporter of God’s Grain Bin. Those attending the services are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate in his memory.

Services will be at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Father John Hall officiating. Military rites will be conducted by contingents from the US Coast Guard and the American Legion .Visitation will be from 4-7:30 prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, PO Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
