Lenora (Jean) Oney, 82, formerly of New Castle, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born on November 1, 1931 to Ray O. and Myrtle R. (Blevins) Fraley in Morehead, Kentucky. She graduated from Rowan County High School in 1950 and was employed by the family owned business in Morehead. She married the love of her life, Carl W. Oney, on October 6, 1962, in Greenfield, Indiana. Jean and Carl were residents of New Castle, Indiana for 45 years and were members of Grace Baptist Church. Due to health reasons they moved to Muncie, Indiana in 2004 to be closer to their daughter and family.
Jean had a servant's heart and was loved by many. She was a precious and devoted wife of 52 years to her husband. She lived her life with integrity, unconditional love, and a strong faith in God. She modeled these attributes for her daughter, Susan Miller (husband, Phil Miller) and her two beloved grandchildren, Alysha Lenor Ellison and Isaac Ray Miller. A compassionate caregiver to others, she was unwavering in her tireless efforts to help anyone in need. She was an expert homemaker of many talents; an accomplished seamstress and an amazing cook. She enjoyed gardening, nature, art, and her special cat, Jenny. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family. She will always be remembered as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who shared her life with unconditional love and prayer for them. Her patience was unmatched and her warm hugs freely given and always welcomed. Her presence will be greatly missed.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, Ray O. Fraley and her mother, Myrtle R. Blevins Fraley, several aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
The family wishes to extend special thanks for the loving care, concern, and support from Heather Hamilton and her staff at Woodway Internal Medicine; and for the compassionate care and encouraging words of so many at The Woodlands nursing center.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverends Elwood Evans, Stan White and Denny Neal officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at the funeral home. Condolences and memories of Lenora may be shared at
