Linda Lou Guffey, 74, of New Castle passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at her residence. She was born October 8, 1943 in New Castle to the late Aubrey and Lucille (Favorite) Cross.
Linda was a 1961 graduate of Walter P. Memorial Chrysler High School and later worked at the Knightstown Soldier and Sailors Home, where she loved caring for the children. Linda also worked at Marilyn's Flowers for many years. She was a member of Open Arms Church, where she loved her church family.
Linda enjoyed watching the Indiana Pacers and any college basketball. Most of all, she was most proud of her grandchildren and would attend any event they were participating in. Linda loved to garden, fish and cook. She had a kind heart and contagious smile that you were always greeted with. Linda devoted her life to the care of others, whether they were family or a stranger.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Gus) Diehr of Greenfield and Carla Guffey of New Castle; grandchildren, Eli and Emily Diehr and Dalton and Isaac Guffey; her daughters' father, Russell Guffey; siblings, Margaret Jent, Marilyn Bowman both of New Castle, Wilbur (Sue) Cross of Mt. Summit; several nieces, nephews and many many friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Dean Cross, Leroy Cross and James Rhodus.
Services will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Open Arms Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
