Lora Ileta McDonald, 86, of Knightstown, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born February 25, 1928 in Topeka, KS a daughter of Ed and Maude (Jones) Plank.
Ileta had worked at Western Electric in Indianapolis and also at DMG (formerly Mayhill Publications) in Knightstown for several years. She was a longtime member of the Ogden United Methodist Church where she served as pianist, organist and treasurer. She loved to crochet and play the piano. Ileta enjoyed making family names, making over 400 and shipping them all over the country. She also loved crossword puzzles and knitting for family and friends.
She is survived by two children, Sheryl Rummel (Roger Haynes) of Knightstown, and Kevin (Tracey) McDonald of New Castle; five grandchildren, Kathy (Curtis) Furlow of Highlands, TX, Jeff (Anna) Grizzell of Greenfield, Grant Rummel (Sam) of Whitestown, Seth (Danielle) Rummel of Muncie, Michael McDonald of New Castle; son-in-law, Wayne Grizzell of Highlands, TX; great grandchildren, Brittney (Craig) Lucas of Highlands, TX, Lindsey Bean (Eric) of Woden, TX, Sidney Grizzell of Knightstown, Kayson and Kyzer Rummel, both of Muncie; great-great grandchildren, Madison and Conner Lucas of Highlands, TX; sister-in-law, Marcella Renshaw Walgamuth of New Castle; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Connie (Wendell) Brooks Davidson of Comanche, OK.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard McDonald Jr., in 1999; two daughters, Patricia Annette McDonald in 1954 and Pamela S. Grizzell in 2007; sisters, Faye Brooks, Ruby Nicholas, Lila McRoberts and Rosabelle Roller; a brother, Carl Plank.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, January 16, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
