Marjorie V. Powless, 87, of New Castle went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 with family by her side. She was born June 16, 1928 to the late John Everett and Arkie Carender of New Castle.

Marjorie retired in 1977 from Guide Lamp GM, in Anderson and was a member of UAW Local 663. She was the oldest member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing and camping in Brown County, going on JuMa Tours, and especially playing Euchre with the girls at her house or with the family. She loved spending every moment she could with her family and friends especially at the holidays and at cookouts. Marjorie loved cooking and making meals for everyone especially making coconut cream pies. She was a NASCAR fan, and loved to go to the races at Mt. Lawn Speedway.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Jon (Ruthann) Powless of New Castle; sisters, Cathy Johnson and Joy (David) Hufford all of New Castle; stepsons, Mick Powless and Rick (Loretta) Powless; step daughter, Diana Hanshew; grandchildren, Autumn (Kevin) Phair, Marsha (Tom) Wheeler, Debi (Paul) Clark Theresa (John) Agee, Joe (Kim) Powless, John M. (Tina) Powless, Bill (Stephanie) Powless, April Powless, Annaliza Rodgers, Tina (John) Bryant, Terri Hanshew, Tim (Kim) Hanshew, Toni (Jay) Nitterhouse all of Anderson and Vickey Robertson of AZ; 33 great grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and1 great-great grandchild on the way that she was excited about; nieces Vicki Walters, Karen (Steve) Thompson of New Castle and Jody (Kevin) Vincent of Logansport; nephews, Shane Riggs of Shirley, Brandon (Lorrie) Riggs of Decatur, Jason Hunnicutt of Muncie, Ben (Michelle) Walters of New Castle and Adam Walters of Muncie; several great nieces, great-great nieces, great nephews and great-great nephews that loved their Aunt Marjorie very much. Her special roommate Louise Shelley and her little dog Ginger. She had many special friends so dear to her heart; too many to list.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Powless; son, Jerry Lee Powless; brother Ray Carender; stepdaughter, Georgia Matheney; brother-in-law, Norman Johnson.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Roby Wood officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
