Mark Aaron Ellson

April 14, 1969 — September 25, 2016

Mark Aaron Ellson, 47, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016, at his residence. He was born April 14, 1969 in New Castle, Indiana to Michael Duane and Shirley (Downey) Ellson of New Castle.

Mark was a graduate of New Castle High School, he had the pleasure of watching his son Joe play Basketball for New Castle High School. He was a loving son, father, husband, grandfather and friend. He adored his granddaughter and was a true family man. He never made anyone feel like a stranger. He loved Bobby Knight, Cincinnati Reds and IU Basketball. Mark was an avid supporter of High School sports and was very knowledgeable about sport statistics. He had coached Lawrence Township Basketball League. He was currently employed by Meijer Super Center in Fishers as a team leader.

In addition to his parents, he was survived by his wife, Kelly (Abbott) Ellson of Indianapolis; children, Jacob Conner (Josselin) Ellson, Joseph Aaron Ellson and Olivia Kathleen Lucille Ellson all of Indianapolis; a granddaughter, Lana Elizabeth Ellson; paternal grandparents, William and Janice Ellson of New Castle; brothers, Michael Duane (Mary) Ellson, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Monte (Michelle) Ellson of Ft. Wayne; Shane Donahue of Knightstown; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; paternal grandparents, William and Janice Ellson of New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Richard and Leora Catt.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at First Bible Free Will Baptist Church, 2302 Spring Street, New Castle, with Pastor Harlen Johnson officiating. Private burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Foundation, 6100 West 96th St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
