Marvin E. Dixon

Marvin Eli Dixon passed away on Friday, December 2. He was born on January 19, 1937 to Thomas Dixon and Mary “Faye” Chew Dixon Couch in New Castle, Indiana.

Marvin attended New Castle Schools. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1954-1958. He was stationed in Thule Air Force Base, Greenland in the fire department. He completed his service at Schilling Air Force Base, Kansas. Marvin retired from Dana Corporation, New Castle.

Marvin was a very talented woodworker, creating many keepsakes for family and friends. For many years he operated a paint and body shop in Spiceland. Over the years, Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, especially boating, fishing, and hunting. In recent years, his greatest joy has been his granddaughter Kassi. They were “two peas in a pod” with their special bond. Kassi was the light that brightened his days.

He leaves behind his precious wife of 44 years, Bonnie Baker Dixon; his beloved children: Diana “Susie” (Chris) Strasser of Spring Valley, California; Thomas (Raullie) Dixon of San Diego, California; Kristi (Gerhard) Engelbrecht from New Castle; grandchildren: Josh Lee, Michael Mena; Thomas, Greg, Tim Dixon; and Kassi Engelbrecht; great-granddaughters Madelyn and Mazelle Mena,Holly Dixon; brothers Michael, Roy, Jay, and Weldon Couch; sisters: Bonnie Knopp, Mary Fellers, Luellen Smith; and a special uncle Clyde Dixon.

Preceding Marvin in death including his parents were brother Jimmy Dixon and sister Lula Ward.

Services will be 1:30p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Rev. Brian Couch officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery- West Lawn Addition with military rites conducted by the U.S. Air Force and the American Legion/VFW. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Hospice, 798 N 16th St, New Castle, IN 47362.
