Mary Alice Browning

Mary Alice Browning, 96, of Knightstown, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Center in New Castle. She was born March 28, 1920 in Rush County a daughter of Harold and Hazel (Gwinnup) Moore.

Mary graduated from Manila High School in 1938. She married her classmate, Everett Browning in 1941. They farmed briefly in Mays before moving to Knightstown. She retired from Danner’s in Knightstown and also worked in the cafeteria in the Charles A. Beard School Corporation. She was a member of the Knightstown United Methodist Church.

She is survived by children, Joan Browning of Knightstown, Sue Bearhope of Knightstown, Tom Browning of Knightstown, R.D. (Christie) Browning of Shelbyville, and Beth (Andrew) Clark of Edmond, OK; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; a sister, Carol (John) Rigsbee of Arlington; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Browning; son, James Browning; a great grandson; brother, Seth Moore; and a sister, Lucile Clawson.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday with Pastor Curt Hunt officiating.
