Mattie Irene Webb

Mattie Irene Webb, age 96, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Henry County Hospital. She was born August 14, 1918 in Loudon County, Tennessee to the late Floyd and Anna Mae (Coffman) Quillen.

She retired from Delco Remy in Kokomo, where she worked in the cafeteria. She had attended the Nazarene Church in Muncie and Grace Baptist Church in New Castle. She enjoyed flowers and loved to quilt.

Survivors include daughter, JoAnne Neal of New Castle; son, Charles H. Simpson of Decatur, TN; nine grandchildren, Melinda (Lonnie) Nixon of Springport, Cindy (John) English, of Brownsburg, Kim (Chris) Riley of Mooreland, Kelley (Corry) Neal of Riverview, FL, Ron Simpson of Logansport, Sam (Marlene) Simpson of Walton, Jim (Diane) Simpson of Elkart, Debbie (Kenny) Plummer, of Carthage, TN and Carla Maxwell of Kokomo; twenty four great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Quillen of Maryville, TN; several nieces and nephews, including Jeannette Teague of Lake City, TN, whom she helped raise.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Homer Simpson, Jr.; siblings, Ola B. Quillen, Kenneth, Frank, Johnny, Allen, and Leon Quillen, Mary Bright, Dora Hammontree, and Sue Hammontree.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Lane Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
