Michael Gene Miller, 48 years old, of New Castle passed from this life into the next on Friday, February 9,2018 of natural causes at Henry Community Health. He was born February 21, 1969 in New Castle to Ronald and Glenda Miller.
Mike was born and raised in Henry County, Indiana. He graduated in 1987 and went on to be a sheet metal journeyman for many years, often installing metal roofs on multi-story buildings attached only by a harness. He also previously worked at the PGA National Golf Course, Henry County Hospital and Ball State University.
Quiet by nature, kind and gentle, Mike got along with everyone and never knew an enemy. He collected the toys of his youth, loved to go fishing and take long drives in the country. Animals were drawn to him and babies adored him. He could soothe anybody or anything. He enjoyed IU basketball and Cleveland Indians baseball. He never outgrew his affection for heavy metal bands and still carried every AC/DC and Blue Oyster Cult CD he owned in his truck. Undoubtedly the greatest loves of his life were his sons, Blake, Shawn and Bryce, and you never heard from Mike that you didn’t hear about them.
While his passing was unexpected and sudden, Mike had been afflicted for years by severe orthopedic problems and rheumatoid arthritis. His family and friends take comfort in knowing his last breath on earth was his first breath in heaven where a host of loved ones met him with open arms. Absent of the pain that wracked him on earth, he is free to shoot hoops and fish without pain and suffering.
Left to love and remember him is his partner of 19 years, Krista (Meador) Linville, his sons Blake Miller of Mineral City Ohio, Bryce Miller of New Castle and Shawn Linville of Sulphur Springs, his mother Glenda (Robert) Johnson of Muncie, sisters Ronda (Dan) Fox of New Castle, Alexis (Anthony) DiMasi of Stuart, Florida, stepsister Julianna Johnson of Boulder, CO, stepbrother David Johnson of Budapest Hungary, nieces Katie (Nathan) Bennett and Scarlett DiMasi, nephew Brett DiMasi, great-niece Marin Bennett, his father-in-law Kenny (Linda) Meador, his mother-in-law Jenny (Brad) Bundy, and his brother-in-law Shawn (Sarah) Meador, all of New Castle. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Miller, his grandparents George and Ruth Miller and Virgil and Mae Taylor, and special dogs Peppy and Spanky.
Mike’s calling hours will be at Hinsey Brown Funeral Service in New Castle on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. with the funeral following on Wednesday, February 14th at 11: 00 a.m. with Chris Hanson officiating. Burial will take place in South Mound Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to New Castle High School Choirs. You may express condolences or share a memory of Mike at
