Patricia A. Moore

March 1, 1930 — September 21, 2016

The Lord needed another great lady, so He called Patricia A. “Pattie” Moore home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Pattie, age 86 of rural New Castle, was born on March 1, 1930 in New Castle, a daughter of the late Kermit and Helen (Logan) Ellis.

She was a 1948 graduate of New Castle High School. Foremost, Pattie was a wife, mother, and homemaker. A very active member of First Christian Church of Mooreland, Pattie served as Sunday School teacher for 40 years, Sunday School Superintendant, and High School Youth Leader for several years, along with her husband. She was also a longtime member of CWU, where she held many offices, and was past President of the Henry County Extension Homemakers Club, member of Gingham Gals Home Ec Club, member of Farm-o-Rama Club for over 50 years, and also KYN (Know Your Neighbor) Club. She was a Board member for the Henry County Public Library, and she was proudly serving when the new library was built. She also spent 30 years as a settling clerk for Conway & Son Auctioneers.

Most famous in her community for her pig collection, she could imitate to perfection the song, “If Pigs Had Wings”. She was also well known for her second-to-none cherry pies!

Most notably, she and Richard, her love since 1949, celebrated 67 years of marriage on September 11th.

Pattie left this world to a much better one in the sky…and among many friends, she left the following family, who will cherish her memory, husband, Richard L. Moore, New Castle; three children, Kent (Diana) Moore, Mooreland, Kelly (Randy) Brumley, New Castle, and Karla (Charlie) Teater of Estero, FL; daughter in law, Marcia (Lonnie) Massengale, Hagerstown; grandchildren, David (Lora) Moore, Hagerstown, Clint (Heather) Moore, Hagerstown, Erin (Josh) Cline, Mooreland, Kara (Bryce) Wilson, Springport, Andrew (Kelsey) Moore, New Castle, Ashley (Kyle) Beavers, New Castle, Kyle (Sarah) Brumley, Pendleton, Alex (Kaitlin) Teater of Lombard, IL, Dana (Ben) Swanson of Rockford, IL; twelve great-grandchildren; a brother, USAF Retired Col. Jerry Ellis of San Jose, CA; a niece, Vicki Ellis, and a nephew, Mike Ellis, both CA.

She is now enjoying time in heaven with her son, Kevin Moore, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Moore.
