Phyllis J. Arnett
April 20, 1935 — September 27, 2017
Phyllis J. Arnett, 82, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Glen Oaks Health Campus. She was born April 20, 1935 in New Castle to the late Wilbur and Elaine (Keesling) Wood.
Phyllis was a life long resident of Kennard and she loved her home town where she was proud to be a Leopard Cat cheerleader back in the 50's. She fell in love with the boy next door, Phil Arnett, and they lived a beautiful small town life together for more than 46 years.
The simplest of things were important to Phyllis as she loved sitting on her front porch and just spending time with her family. She was a terrific bowler and was passionate about Hoosier basketball and Yankees' baseball. She was a great homemaker and a wonderful mother.
She had many joys in life, but she also experienced the ultimate heartache for a mother when she lost her only daughter, Cathy. That loss though, helped to lead Phyllis, and the rest of her family, to an altar at Kennard Friends Church where she knelt and accepted the free gift of salvation and asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior.
She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart and because of the Lord's grace; she now waits for them in eternity. The struggles of human life are over for Phyllis, but they have been replaced with endless joy forevermore! Amen!
She is survived by a son, Steve (Paula) Arnett of New Castle, granddaughter, Taylor (Kyle) Phegley of New Castle; grandson, Kendall Arnett of Muncie; great-grandsons, Allister Phegley and Julian Phegley.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Arnett in 2003, a daughter, Cathy Arnett in 1976 and a sister, Beverly Jessee.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Kennard Friends Church with Pastor Steve Arnett officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Monday, October 2 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral service in New Castle and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
