Phyllis J Catron

January 23, 1935 — October 20, 2014

Phyllis J. Catron, age 79, of New Castle, passed away Monday, October 20, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born January 23, 1935 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Cecil A. and Ada B. (Waterman) Scott.

She retired from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and First United Methodist Church. She was self employed as a cake maker and had worked at Becker’s as a cake decorator. She had also worked at Hernley and Sunnyside schools as a teacher’s aide. She was a role model and mentor to her four granddaughters. Phyllis was a former member of Altrussa and was very involved with her high school class. She was a member of First Baptist Church for nearly 60 years where she taught Sunday school, played piano, and sang in the choir. She enjoyed traveling and baking. She devoted a lot of time to her granddaughters. Phyllis enjoyed her flower garden, reading and keeping a journal.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Brian) Eversole of New Castle; son, James Michael “Jim” (Patti) Catron of Spring Hill, TN; four granddaughters, Megan (Brandon) Poe of Pendleton, Paige (Rob) Noel of Anderson, Michelle (Gary) Carter of New Castle and Lainey Catron (fiancé, Rob Keesling) of Spring Hill, TN; two great grandsons, Mayson James Keesling of Spring Hill, TN and Tanner Allen Noel of Anderson; a sister, Evelyn Dickey of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Catron in 1992; daughter, Tina Rene Catron; sister, Waunita Hedrick; grandson, Aaron David Eversole.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014 at First Baptist Church in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at Hinsey- Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer, 3500 DePauw Blvd., Suite 2070, Indianapolis, IN 46268 or the American Cancer Society, 4567 Progress Drive, Columbus, IN 47201.
