Rhoda J. Hood, 84, of Indianapolis, formerly of Mays, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was born May 6, 1931 on a farm near Mays, a daughter of William and Lela (Sutton) Bourquein.
Rhoda married Joseph Hood May 25, 1949. She volunteered at Center Christian Church and worked at car auctions. She loved gardening, her pets and taking long walks. Rhoda and her husband moved back to Indianapolis in 2009. She loved being with family and having a good time.
She is survived by five children, Richard (Peggy) Hood of Winston Salem, NC, Karen (Dr. Creig) Lobdell of Springfield, MO, Cathy Linder of Greenwood, Dave Hood of Indianapolis, Vickie Acton of Greenwood and special son, Jeff Leach of Indianapolis; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Newman of Spiceland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Hood; and a brother, Russell Bourquein.
Services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Joshua Lobdell officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery.
