Richard (Dick) Charles Byrd, 75, of New Castle passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home. He was born November 7, 1942 in New Castle to the late William and Margaret (Shadoan) Byrd.
He was a 1961 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. Richard married his wife, Priscilla on May 1, 1965. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1995 after 30 years of service in lay out and inspection. He was a member of the UAW 371. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching IU basketball games and Green Bay Packers football games. He especially loved visiting his sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Priscilla (Hough) Byrd, sons, William E. (Debra) Byrd of Martinsville and Charles A. (Lisa) Byrd of Green Bay, WI; granddaughters, Jordan (Lundy) VanDuyn of New Castle and Kristy (Joe) Ciha of Green Bay, WI; grandsons, Christopher (Kelsey) Byrd of New Castle, Nathan Byrd and Cory Dequaine, both of Green Bay, WI; two great-grandchildren; brother, Mike (Wanda) Byrd of New Castle; sister, Pamela (Kevin) Luff of New Castle; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an uncle, Raymond Byrd.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Michael Kirby Officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery West Lawn Addition with Military rites provided by a contingent of the U.S. Army, American Legion and the VFW.
